During the past decade, the term “physical fitness” has taken on a new meaning. In many respects, physical fitness has become a way of life in society today. People are more aware of the role of fitness in overall health. We eat, sleep, go to work, and try to include some form of exercise in our busy schedules.

More and more people are turning to instructors in their local gyms or personal trainers for advice and training programmes that are specifically geared to their own needs and circumstances

As a fitness instructor you can help people achieve their goals: losing weight, becoming fitter and healthier, toning and shaping their bodies or training to achieve success in particular sports. For each person, the best way that they can achieve these goals is different. Your role as a fitness instructor is to work with your clients to design personal courses that really work for them.

You will need to assess their current level of health and fitness and take into account their lifestyle and circumstances to devise achievable goals. Then you will need to design a programme to reach those goals and keep them motivated and progressing until they get there. The role of the fitness instructor does not end there. Once goals are achieved, a health and fitness programme must be implemented to ensure that your clients stay fit for life.
Just a note to say thank you for a great course. Really enjoyed it. I would recommend you to anyone! — A.R.
